Whirlpool GC2000PE 1/2 HP Garbage Disposal Review

December 13, 2021 by Justin Leave a Comment

The Whirlpool brand has been in business for more than 100 years. With an annual revenue of $21 billion, over 100,000 employees, and 75 technology and development centers across the globe, they have earned their reputation as one of the most trusted names in the home appliances industry. One example of the superior products they produce is the Whirlpool GC2000PE ½ HP In Sink Disposer (see today's price).

If you’re worried about overloading your garbage disposal or causing it to jam, investing in this food waste disposer will eliminate your worries. Even though it is a continuous feed model, it boasts an overload protector that removes the possibility of jams or clogs developing. The process of disposing your food waste is simple and trouble-free. Food waste is ground down so finely that it simply washes right down your sink.

The Whirlpool GC2000PE is powered by a strong ½ HP motor that is capable of reaching 1,725 rotations per minute. The shredding ring and grinding wheel are crafted from premium stainless steel, which makes them durable and resistant to corrosion, and the grinding chamber is constructed ABS plastic – one of the strongest materials on the market today.

Best Features

  • Stainless Steel Swivel Impellers – During the grinding process, these impellers essentially rotate at a high rate of speed to mince your food waste into fine particles. What is unique about Whirlpool’s swivel impellers is that they are longer in length, and the edges are sharpened to a fine point, which makes the GC2000PE more efficient at grinding food waste than other similar models on the market.
  • Galvanized Stainless Steel Shredder Ring and Grinding Wheel – Today, it’s not uncommon to find garbage disposals with stainless steel components. What is different about the stainless steel components that Whirlpool uses is that they have been galvanized, which means that a protective zinc coating has been added to the stainless steel to prevent corrosion and rust. This is just another example of the quality of products that Whirlpool produces.
  • Overload Protector With Manual Reset – This is a feature that is 100% unique to Whirlpool garbage disposals. If too much waste is placed in the garbage disposal, it will automatically shut itself off to prevent jamming or clogs. The manual reset button allows the user to reset it as needed. This feature is designed to protect the plumbing and pipes in your home.
  • Powerful Motor – With its ½ HP motor, the Whirlpool GC2000PE is comfortably capable of handling heavy duty usage from a family of 4-6 people with no problems.

My Stories and Experiences

If you don’t want to pay professional plumber hundreds of dollars to install a garbage disposal for you, then the Whirlpool GC2000PE Garbage Disposer is the unit you are looking for. My home is full of Whirlpool appliances, and the last Whirlpool garbage disposal I had lasted almost eighteen years. This is why I decided to go with Whirlpool food waste disposer. The GC2000PE came with a power cord, which I appreciated. It was one less item I had to buy. This disposal is so much quieter than my last model. I can carry on a conversation with someone in the room, while it is running, without having to yell.

When I first opened up the GC2000PE, I was skeptical about how well it would work. We just installed a new sink in our kitchen, and because the new sink is deeper, my wife and I were having trouble finding a garbage disposal that would fit under the sink. I knew the GC2000PE would be small, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this small. It only measures 14.5” in height and 7.5” in diameter; however, it is true that the best things come in small packages. We haven’t had a problem with it since we installed it. Last night’s dinner included chicken bones, and the new Whirlpool disposal handled it like a champ. (Although, the dogs were quite disappointed that we didn’t ask them to dispose of the bones.)

I only have one slight criticism of the Whirlpool GC2000PE Disposer. The installation instructions were not easy to read. I had to watch several tutorial videos on YouTube before I could figure out how to install it. The whole process took 3-4 hours, but this was also partially due to the fact that I had to remove the old mounting system for the last garbage disposal.

My Conclusion and Thoughts

The Whirlpool GC2000PE ½ HP In Sink Disposer does what it is supposed to, and although not the cheapest model on the market, it is worth every penny that you will spend on it. This is a quality piece of equipment that everyone in my household uses on a daily basis. With a strong manufacturer’s warranty behind it, I expect that we will enjoy many years of use from the GC2000PE
