My Story and Experiences
As the proprietor of a small assisted living facility, I have had the InSinkErator SS-100-28 Standard Capacity Commercial Waste Disposer installed in my kitchen for the last 3 years, and I could not be more pleased with its performance. It is asked to grind the waste of 50+ individuals three times a day, and we have not had a single clog or jam thus far.
The induction type motor can reach up to 1725 rotations per minute, and even I can appreciate the fact that it is totally enclosed to protect its innards and the motor from outside moisture. InSinkErator has built in a controlled air flow to cool the motor as it works to prevent it from overheating. Not only does the air flow increase its efficiency, but it also increases its lifespan.
There’s a triple lip seal around the motor that protects it from water damage, and an additional spring-loaded oil seal offers an extra level of protection against moisture and also against grease loss. Personally, I like the fact that it’s got a rubbing mountain above the grinding chamber that eliminates vibration and minimizes the amount of noise it makes. I can talk to my residents while it is running without having to yell.
I bought this model with the standard one year manufacturer’s warranty, but you can purchase an extended warranty if you want too.
