Insinkerator Badger 100 Review
Now that we have confirmed that the Badger 100 garbage disposal and the Badger 1 are in fact the same, is the Badger 1 a good garbage disposal choice?
We think so - the Insinkerator Badger 1 is one of the most popular garbage disposals available for sale in 2023. Don't believe us? Check out key things that make this garbage disposal stand out from other brands:
Value & Price
The Badger 1 from Insinkerator is amazing value. For garbage disposals priced below $100, the Badger 1 simply offers features that other similarly priced models don't provide. The main features to consider are:
Warranty
1-Year We Come to You In-Home Service Warranty - this may not seem like much, but other competing brands typically only offer a 1 year limited warranty, meaning that even if you are still under warranty you may still need to pay out of pocket. The Badger 1 offers an in home service warranty where you can rest assured that any problems you may have will be handled by Insinkerator and they will come to your house and service the unit for free during the 1 year period.
Noise Insulation
Other competing models at this price point usually do not provide any sound insulation at all - the noise the Badger 1 or Badger 100 makes when it's running may not be as quiet as, say the premium Insinkerator 3/4 HP Evolution Compact, but it certainly is quieter than most models priced at around $100. Excessive noise is one of the leading reasons of returns when it comes to entry level garbage disposals. With with the Badger 1 or 100, you can rest assured that running the disposal won't be too intrusive when you are cleaning up after a meal.
Power And Performance
The Insinkerator Badger 1 comes with a powerful 1/3 horsepower motor to grind your after-meal food scraps out of sight and down the drain. This 1/3 horsepower is similar to other offerings at this price point and should be enough for most households typical food disposal needs. It will be able to handle everyday food waste, but it would be best not to put bones or fruit pits into this disposal. It's patented one stage grind technology, however, includes a patented GrindShear ring that can mince through tough-to-grind-foods, reducing the chance of clogs forming.
Installation
All it takes is to install the Badger 1 is to unscrew the old garbage disposal from its place under the sink and screw the new one in – just like changing a lightbulb. This technology is called the QuickLock installation system and makes installing the Badger 1 quick and easy. In our expierence it took less than 20 minutes to install a Badger 1, and even less time than that if you are swapping out an existing Insinkerator. This is because all Insinkerators are interchangeable once you have installed the QuickLock flange into the kitchen sink.
If you are looking for a solid, durable and reliable garbage disposal under $100, going with what is rated highly on Amazon is usually a safe strategy - we have installed many Badger 1's in the past and I am sure they would agree with the 4,600+ families who have given the Badger 1 a 4.5 stars out of 5 rating. You won't go wrong with this choice!
